Diogenes Laertius Source has been developed within the DISCOVERY Project and received financing and support from the following institutions:

- 2007 to 2009 The European Commission, within the eContentplus programme.  formed by 6 partner institutions under the coordination of Paolo D’Iorio (CNRS).

- ILIESI-CNR, has supported Diogenes Laertius Source with personnel, rooms, and additional facilities since 2006.

- Dapartment of philosophical and epistemological studies, Faculty of Philosophy, "Sapienza" University, Rome, has supported Diogenes Laertius Source with personnel and facilities.

Diogenes Laertius Source  is the pilot project of two European coordination actions:

2006-2010 COST Action A32, “Open Scholarly Communities on the Web”, 15 European countries participating.

2004-2007 Groupement de Recherche Européen (GDREplus), “Hyper-Learning. Modèles ouverts de recherche et d’enseignement sur Internet”, 29 partners from 9 European countries.
